BANGOR, Maine – Husson had a rough day at home on Saturday, falling to New England College (NEC) 28-2.
The Pilgrims (8-5, 4-0 NAC) led 5-0 going into the second period until Jacob Boothby picked up two back-to-back goals for the Eagles (3-6, 2-2 NAC) in the first minute of the period, putting them on the scoreboard. His first goal scored within 15 seconds of the period starting, was unassisted then followed up just 20 seconds later with an assist by Tyler Talbot.
Going into halftime, NEC increased their lead to 17-2. Jacob Blanchette took charge of the first half, tallying up seven goals for the Pilgrims, closely followed by teammate Sean Largay with six of his own. Daniel Medevtz added on five assists while Matt Richard contributed four.
Husson held off the Pilgrims until the ninth minute of the third period when they struck again with a goal by William Pendleton.
By the end of the game, NEC had picked up another eleven goals in the second half to give them the victory. Chase Begin and Will Hay threw in four goals apiece for the Pilgrims and Begin also picked up the most ground balls on the day with nine.
For Husson, Talbot contributed immensely picking up six ground balls while Blaine Miller helped out his team causing two turnovers.
The Eagles will have a week to recuperate before venturing over to Lyndon State for a game at 2:30pm next Saturday, April 22nd.
