BANGOR, Maine—Husson University (2-3, 1-0 NAC) defeated Green Mountain College (0-3, 0-1 NAC) 23-2 Saturday afternoon in the first conference action of the year for both teams.

Husson was led by a record-tying performance from attacker Brooks Gay.  Gay tied the school record for most points in a game, recording nine goals and four assists for 13 points.

The Eagles opened up the scoring early with a goal from Zach Glazier, his first of two on the day, at the 13:56 mark in the first quarter.  The Eagles went on to score eight more unanswered goals, with four from Gay, before Green Mountain College hopped on the board with a goal from David Gerken 2:31 into the second quarter.

Husson regained momentum after trading goals with Green Mountain, to bring the score to 11-2 at the 10:40 mark of the third quarter. The Eagles began a scoring flurry, ending the game with 12 unanswered goals en route to their first conference win of the year.

Gay and Glazier weren't the only multi-goal scorers for the Eagles, as Jacob Boothby and Mitch Spurr both recorded hat tricks for the high-octane offense.

Husson goalie Matt Martin recorded 8 saves in the game, earning his 200th career stop along the way.

The Eagles will be back in action at home against Johnson State on Tuesday, March 18th where they look to extend their conference record to 2-0.
