Castleton, VT - Husson men's lacrosse improves to 3-2 overall and 3-0 in the North Atlantic Conference with their 12-4 victory over Green Mountain College on Sunday afternoon at Castleton State College.
The Eagles extend their winning streak to three games, scoring three goals in the first quarter. Kevin Nolan (Norwood, MA) grabbed two early goals, with assists coming from Brandon Corbo (Merrimack, NH) and Vinny Visconti (North Andover, MA), while Nolan Brown (Waterford, CT) added the other goal in the first 15 minutes, on an unassisted effort.
Husson came out in the 2nd quarter riding their momentum, seeing Visconti score a pair of quick goals, extending the lead to 5-0. James Seager (Gilford, NH) grabbed a goal, and Corbo netted two of his own to end the quarter with a 8-0 Husson lead.
Corbo and Visconti both added a goal in the 3rd quarter, before Green Mountain grabbed their first goal of the game making it 10-1. Jack White (Marston Mills, MA) answered back for Husson to make it 11-1.
Green Mountain would score three times in the fourth to close the gap to 11-4, Brown scored with 1:34 remaining in the game to silence Green Mountain and seal the victory.
Brown ended the game with 2 goals and 2 assists, while Visconti and Corbo each grabbed 3 goals and an assist.
Eric Lund (Mansfield, MA) earned the win in net, making 1 save in 45 minutes of play, while Tom Lepage (Lewiston, ME) and Andrew Tarr (Eliot, ME) split time in net for the remaining 15 minutes, combining to stop 5 shots.
Mike Smith led Green Mountain with his three 4th quarter goals, Luke Carey stopped 10 shots on 22 shots faced.
Husson will travel to the University of Southern Maine this Tuesday, April 1st at 4:00 PM, to play the Huskies, a game that was rescheduled from March 15th.
