HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – Sophomore Gavin Dugas of the Husson University men's golf team competed in the final round of the 2017 NCAA Division III Championship on Friday, May 19. Dugas placed tied for 16th in a field of 215 golfers at the four-round event held at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
Dugas ended the championships carding a 296 after entering the clubhouse on Friday with a 75 on the par-72, 6,844-yard El Campeón Course. He opened play on Tuesday with a 72 on the Las Colinas Course before shooting a four-over par 76 on the El Campeón Course Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday, after the field was cut to the top 18 teams and six individuals not on an advancing team, the sophomore carded a 73 on El Campeón.
Dugas finish of 16th at the national event marks the highest individual finish in program history since Joe Alvarez '02 finished tied for 12th at the 2002 NAIA National Championship.
This concludes the 2016-17 season for the Husson men's golf team.
