BANGOR, Maine - Husson men's basketball recruiting class is beginning to take shape as they received their second commitment for the class of 2018.
Trey Sibert a 6-5 post from Tampa Prep has committed to join the Eagles program. During his senior year, Sibert averaged 11 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks while serving as captain and helping the Terrapins to a 18-12 record. Sibert was a four year varsity player and a three year starter for Coach Joe Fenlon at Tampa Prep.
During his four year career, Sibert amassed 932 points, 654 rebounds and 142 blocks, while averaging more than 19 wins a year. Tampa Prep won two district titles over his four years. Sibert was selected All-County his junior and senior seasons as well as being selected by the Tampa area coaches to play in the Senior City All-Star game, where he was a finalist in the dunk contest. Sibert is currently ranked third on the all-time rebounding list at Tampa Prep behind Casey Sanders, a McDonalds All-American who played at Duke, and Juwan Durham, a current sophomore playing at Notre Dame. Trey is one of only seven players that made the varsity team as a freshman in his school's history.
Sibert played AAU for coach John Arroyo and SCE (Skills Center Elite) Basketball.
"Trey is a very good piece for us to add. His ability to rebound and defend the rim will fit nicely with the nucleus we have coming back" says head coach Warren Caruso. "Trey has played a high level of high school basketball, and we look forward to seeing the impact he has on our program over his career".
Sibert joins Ian McIntyre of Hampden (Maine) as a part of the 2018 recruiting class.
The Eagles finished the year 19-7 and NAC regular season Co-Champions. The 19-7 snap a five year streak of 20+ win season as well as two straight trips to the NCAAs. The Eagles have appeared in six out of the last 10 NCAA National Tournament.
