WATERVILLE, Maine – The Husson University men's basketball team defeated North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rival Thomas College, 90-82, on Saturday afternoon at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium.

The Eagles end at 19-6 (15-3 NAC), clinching the number two seed, while the Terriers finish at 14-11 (11-7 NAC) on the season, earning the number four seed in the NAC Tournament.

Thomas held a small lead throughout the first half as they were able to knock down eight shots from behind the arch. Sophomore Zach Mackinnon hit 4-of-5 from three to lead the Terriers to a 44-40 advantage at the half.  NAC leading scorer, Raheem Anderson, kept his team within striking distance on 7-of-10 shooting for 18 first half points.

The Terriers looked for a hot start in the second as sophomore Matt Allen buried a pair of threes to bring the lead to five. The Eagles chipped away at the small deficit and took over the lead on a layup from Corey Kaiser with 9:50 remaining. A big 8-0 run from Husson was too much for the Terriers to overcome as the Eagles iced the game down the stretch at the free throw line.

Anderson led all scorers with 30 points along with seven rebounds while Justin Martin netted 16 points, including four shots from three and seven boards for Husson. DJ Bussey and Kyanti Blyden also reached double figures with 14 points and 10 points respectively.

Mackinnon held a team-high 20 points for the Terriers while John Morgan and Demetris Webster each contributed with 16 points.

The No. 2 seeded Eagles earned a first round bye and will await the results of No. 3 seed Colby-Sawyer and No. 6 seed Castleton. The semi-final game will be played on Friday, February 23 on the campus of New England College.
