BANGOR, MAINE - The Husson University men's basketball team (17-5, 13-2 NAC) beat the Lyndon Hornets (2-19, 2-13 NAC)113-49 Friday night at Newman Gymnasium. The Eagles used the three pointer to their advantage in the win.
The Eagles went on an impressive 10-0 run within the first three minutes of the game. Husson's offense continued to dominate throughout the first half. Husson made eleven three pointers in the half to keep their momentum alive.
Midway through the first, Newman Gymnasium saw a huge dunk from Junior guard Kyanti Blyden prompting Lyndon to take a timeout. Blyden then followed shortly after with a three of his own. The Eagles defense continued to work hard forcing multiple turnovers and capitalizing on the other end of the court. Going into halftime, Husson lead Lyndon 59-22.
The Eagles continued a strong offensive effort throughout the second half. The Eagles loved the shot from beyond the arc in the second half. The Eagles saw threes from Justin Martin, DJ Bussey, Mitch Worcester, and Raheem Anderson in the half.
Husson broke their own record of threes made in a single game (21) previously at (19) against Bowdoin back on January 16th.
Freshman guard DJ Bussey tallied 22 points and 3 rebounds.
Senior guard Mitch Worcester added 17 points and 4 rebounds.
Junior forward Justin Martin dropped 19 points and 3 rebounds.
Junior guard CJ Jimmy scored 6 points and 5 rebounds.
Senior guard Robbie Rouelle added 6 points and 2 rebounds.
Freshman guard Gerald Fleming tallied 12 points and 3 rebounds.
Husson broke the school record for most threes made in a single game (21). Lyndon shot 62.5% from the free throw line.
The Eagles continue conference play tomorrow, February 10th at 3:00pm against Johnson State in Newman Gymnasium.
