BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University men's basketball program received a commitment from George Stevens Academy Forward Jarrod Chase.
Chase, a 6-foot-3 wing player from Blue Hill, Maine, is best known for his dramatic championship winning buzzer beater in the Class C State Championship game this winter against Winthrop. His dramatic three pointer over two defenders with 1.2 seconds left iced the victory and won the gold ball for the Eagles.
"Jarrod had a great career at GSA. He was a big part of two state championship teams," says head coach Warren Caruso. "Jarrod has a solid skill set and is a very good athlete. We feel he has a good upside and will develop into a very good college player."
Chase concluded his senior season averaging 14.8 pts, 6.0 assists, 7.6 rebounds, 4.4 steals and 2.0 blocks per game. He was a key contributor on two State Championship teams that had an overall record of 43-1 over his final two seasons. His play on the court earned him a place on the PVC All Defensive Team for the third time in 2017 as well as placed him on the All Tournament and All- Conference Second Teams.
Chase joins Kyanti Blyden of Broward College (Florida), Justin Thompson of Schenck HS (Maine), Coty Hackett from Burley HS (Idaho), and Cole Thomas of Master's Academy (Florida) in the 2017 recruting class.
Husson graduated three seniors off a 21-7 squad which captured the program's 6th North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship in the last nine years and their 4th in the last five years. The Eagles recorded their 5th straight 20+ win season and 33rd consecutive winning season.
