Men's Basketball Storms Past Castleton, 85-59

BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University Eagles hosted the Castleton State Spartans in NAC play on Saturday afternoon at the Newman Gymnasium in Bangor. The Eagles (16-6, 13-2) got off to a quick start in the 85-59 victory over the Spartans of Castleton State (14-7, 9-6) and led by as many as 15 points early in the contest behind the outside shooting of senior guard, Raheem Anderson.

Anderson led all first-half scorers with 16 points.  The Eagles dominated play in every category out rebounding the Spartans 19-13 and converting nine Castleton turnovers into 16 first half points.  The Eagles shot 48% from behind the arch and 49% from the field in taking a 47-24 lead into the break.

The Eagles started the second half opening up a 58-32 lead by the 13-minute mark.  Husson continued to impose their will stretching the lead to 31 points midway through the second stanza rolling to a lopsided 85-59 victory. The Spartans were also no match for the Eagle's speed and inside dominance as senior forward, Eli Itkin grabbed nine rebounds and sophomore forward, Justin Martin followed with eight.

The Eagles were led by Anderson's 24 points. Itkin chipped in 16 points, with Mitch Worcester and Alonzo McCain contributing 10 points apiece. Castleton's Pavin Parrish immensely helped out his team with 20 points on the night.

The Eagles will have a couple days rest until they travel to Thomas (Maine) on Wednesday, February 15 with start time of 5:30 p.m.
