  • Field Hockey Takes Second Sweep of NAC Awards After Capturing NECC Title

    WATERVILLE, Maine - The Husson field hockey team swept the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) weekly awards after grabbing their eighth championship title in program history. MVP of the championship tournament, senior Arika Brochu was awarded Player of the Week for the first time this season. Sophomore Andrea Shaggy picked up Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. NAC All-Tournament player and Rookie of the Year Haley Ward achieved Rookie of the Week for the third time this season.

    FARMINGTON, Maine - The Husson field hockey team (2-12, 1-3 NAC) dropped their regular season finale at the University of Maine at Farmington (2-12, 1-3 NAC) by the final score of 5-1 at Prescott Field in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on Thursday afternoon.
  • Field Hockey Advances Into Postseason as No. 2 Seed in the NAC

    WATERVILLE, Maine - Husson (2-12, 1-3) and UMaine-Farmington (2-12, 1-3) finished the season with identical conference records, overall records, and goals-against averages. Several layers of tiebreaking procedures were enacted to determine the seeds, which came down to a comparison of strength of schedule. UMaine-Farmington's most recent strength of schedule is .501, slightly behind Husson at .509, thus tipping the advantage to the Eagles.

    BANGOR, Maine – Taking the Eagles (2-11, 1-2 NAC) into extra minutes, the University of Southern Maine (10-7, 7-3 LEC) battled back from a one-goal deficit twice to catch up from behind as both teams concluded regulation time tied 3-3. Just 3:33 into overtime, Brooke Dugan put an end to the match lifting the Huskies over the Eagles, 4-3, on Monday evening at Dr. John W. Winkin Sports Complex.

     BANGOR, Maine – The Husson women’s field hockey team (2-10, 1-2 NAC) put up a tough fight on senior day, but couldn’t capitalize as the Thomas College Terriers (11-7, 4-0 NAC) defeated the Eagles, 2-0, in a North Atlantic Conference matchup on homecoming night at Winkin Sports Complex. Three seniors were recognized prior to the match, Sadie Royer, Allison Leighton, and Arika Brochu.

    BANGOR, Maine – Husson field hockey (0-5-0) not only had to battle nationally ranked #8 Bowdoin College (5-0-0) on their home turf on Tuesday evening, but the Eagles also had to fight through around 90 minutes of delay for a thunder and lightning storm with the first strike occurring with 1:44 left on the clock in the first half. Arika Brochu scored the lone goal for Husson as they fell to Bowdoin, 5-1.

The Eagles received 8 points and 2 first-place votes. UMaine-Farmington collected the remaining first place vote and a total of 7 points. Thomas rounded out the poll with 3 points.
