Field Hockey Announces Two More Commitments for 2018 Season

BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University field hockey team continues to receive commitments for the 2018 season. Haley Ward, a midfielder from Winslow High School in Winslow, Maine, and Taylor Ouellette, a forward from Thornton Academy in Saco, Maine, have both announced their commitment to Husson.

Haley Ward, a member of the varsity program at Winslow, tallied 30 goals and 40 assists in her career. She was named to the all-conference and all-state teams two times, while being named to the 2018 All-New England Team. Ward will be studying exercise science at Husson University.

Marybeth Bourgoin, Haley's high school coach, said,  "Haley is a super versatile player. Her athleticism, skill and field sense make her a triple threat. What raises the bar even more is her incredible commitment to her team and the team goals.  She's the full package!"

Taylor Ouellette left Thornton Academy as their all-time career leader in goals scored with 63 and most goals in a single season with 26. Her senior year she was named to the All-Conference team while also being named co-conference player of the year.

Lori Smith, Taylor's coach at Thornton Academy, was quoted saying, "Taylor is a sniper in front of the net! She possesses a deadly combination of both endurance and speed. Taylor played an integral role in our run to the state championship game in 2015 as just a sophomore and has improved her 1v1 skills each season. She was often a finisher her first few years on varsity, but during her senior year as a co-captain, Taylor had several break-aways down the field that led to goals. More importantly, Taylor is a kind and thoughtful young woman who is a pleasure to coach."

The Eagles will look to repeat their historical 2017 season and keep the national spotlight on Bangor, Maine.
