BANGOR, Maine – Coming off a North Atlantic Conference championship, the Husson University field hockey team will travel to Wellesley, Massachusetts, to face Babson College, who received one of the five at-large berths, for a NCAA DIII Field Hockey Championship First Round contest on Wednesday, November 8th, at 4:00 pm.
This will be the sixth appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the Eagles, while Babson will be making its second-consecutive appearance and fourth overall.
The Eagles (12-5) are led by First Team All-NAC members Sadie Royer and Mikalya Toth. Royer is tied with Lauren Russell for first on the team with 12 goals. The forward also tallied six assists on the year. Toth anchored an Eagle defense that only allowed 2.95 goals a game. She also scored five goals and assisted on four other goals.
As mentioned, Russell is tied for first on the team with 12 goals. She also leads the team in assists with seven. The All-NAC Tournament forward has been the most-potent offensive weapon for the Eagles. Taylor Shaw, who scored the game winning goal in the NAC Championship game and was also part of the All-NAC Tournament team, leads the team in game winning goals with four.
In net, Anne Marie Provencal totaled 159 saves, 12 wins, an .799 save percentage, and an eye popping 1,207:47 of game play. Provencal was named the NAC Defensive Player of the Year and NAC Tournament MVP.
The green and gold will travel to Babson College, who earned an at-large bid, on Wednesday, with the winner advancing to face the 15th-ranked University of Rochester (17-3) in a second-round match on Saturday, November 11th, at Middlebury College.
