BANGOR, Maine - The Husson University field hockey team pick up a 4-0 victory over New England College (NEC) in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division action on Saturday afternoon at Winkin Sports Complex.
In a pregame ceremony senior's Whitney Arno, Kaitlin Dolloff, Kerianne Downing, Libby Kain, Taylor Lovley, Jen Neri, Mary St. Cyr and Elizabeth Terry were all recognized for their contributions to the Husson field hockey program.
Husson (6-5, 3-1 NAC East) jumped on to the board early when Terry took a pass from Lovley and shot the ball into the lower left corner of the cage to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead two minutes and 59 seconds into the game before Mikayla Toth extended the Eagle to 2-0 at the 20:55 mark with an assist from Downing.
Kolby Kain (52:58) and Lauren Russell (64:43) scored second half goals giving Husson the 4-0 victory. Toth was credited with her 20th and 21st career assists on both goals to move into sole possession of third place all-time.
Dolloff stopped one shot to earn her seventh career shutout, while Michaela Clark and Amandaline Tibbals combined to record 15 saves for New England College (4-11, 0-4 NAC East).
The Eagles outshot the Pilgrims, 39-4 and took the advantage in penalty corners, 26-1.
Husson returns to action on Oct. 19 when they host #2 Bowdoin in a 7:00 p.m. non-conference game, while NEC returns home for a 7:00 p.m. contest with Simmons on Oct. 19.
