  • Husson Field Hockey Honored for Hard Work in the Classroom

    Husson Field Hockey Honored for Hard Work in the Classroom Bangor, ME - The National Field Hockey Coaches' Association recently honored collegiate field hockey student athletes for their successes in the classroom, and members of the 2011 Eagles team, as well as the team itself were among those honored. The team was recognized as part of a group of NCAA Divsion III institutions which boasted an overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher, earning the 2011 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA National Academic Team Award. Also, ten Husson student athletes were part of a list of young women who earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester and were named to the Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA National Academic Squad.

    Husson Field Hockey Falls to MIT in NCAA Opening Round CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Playing in her final game on Jack Barry Field, senior Kameron Klauber (Carlsbad, Calif.) put on a dazzling offensive display, scoring five goals and adding an assist, as MIT defeated Husson University, 7-0, in the first round of the NCAA Division III field hockey championship on Wednesday night. With the win, the Engineers (18-3) advance to the second round of the postseason for the second time in three years. Husson, who was making its third straight postseason appearance, sees its season come to an end at 11-9, after a thrilling run through the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) tournament.

The Eagles, one of four teams to receive at least one first-place vote, garnered five and earned a total of 94 points to top the poll. 2010 NAC Rookie of the Year, Sabrina Vaillancourt, returns for her sophomore season after tallying six goals as a freshman. The Eagles also return senior midfielder Lorri Hiltz, a member of the 2010 All-Conference Second Team.
