Shawn Demaray returns to the Eagle sidelines in 2017 after spending the 2016 season as the defensive coordinator at John Bapst Memorial High School and five seasons as a member of the University of Maine’s coaching staff from 2011-15. The 2017 season will mark Demaray’s third overall season as a member of the Husson football coaching staff and the first since 2010.

Demaray came back to Husson after serving as running backs coach from 2011-12 before legendary Maine head football coach Jack Cosgrove promoted him to the tight ends coach/recruiting coordinator in the summer of 2013, while also being in charge of all Black Bears’ summer football camps.

While at Maine, Demaray helped develop a pair of 300-yard rushers (Rickey Stevens and Nigel Jones), who won CAA Offensive Player of the Week and Offensive Rookie of the Week, respectively in 2012. In 2013, coached All-American, All-CAA First Team selection, College Football Performance Awards’ Elite Tight End Trophy Award recipient and NFL free agent (Green Bay), Justin Perillo, while another tight end, Derek Buttles, got an invitation to an NFL camp. Perillo ranked among the leaders in the CAA for receptions and was fourth on the Black Bears team in receptions (39), fourth in receiving yards (490), third in touchdowns (4) and third in yards per catch (12.6). Demaray spent his last two seasons (2014-15) working specifically with Maine’s big skill positions (fullbacks, tight ends).

Prior to joining the UMaine coaching staff, Demaray served as the offensive line and the strength & conditioning coach at Husson from 2009-10, helping to develop a very young offensive line that improved greatly throughout his first tenure. Under Demaray’s guidance one offensive lineman earned All-ECFC honors, Jon Benson in 2009.

Demaray joined the Eagles coaching staff after spending the 2008 season at Maine Maritime Academy, where he coached an offensive line that helped  produce one of the best rushing attacks in the nation. Demaray saw three players earn Bogan Division All-NEFC honors, Chris Mitchell (First Team), Dan Weamer (2nd Team), Mike Vangelist (2nd Team), while Mitchell was tabbed as the Bogan Division Offensive Lineman of the Year and was selected to the NEFW DII/III All-New England squad.

Demaray was an All-Conference offensive lineman during his teure as a player at Maine. He graduated from Maine in 2007 with a degree in kinesiology and physical education. He would earn his Master’s the following year from Maine in exercise science.

A native of Livermore Falls, Maine, Demaray attended Livermore Falls High School. He and his wife, Terese reside in Bangor, Maine with their two sons, Daxton and Rigdon.
