Rivera Named First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Senior Luis Rivera was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District I Team for his work on the field and in the classroom, on Thursday afternoon.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their excellence on the field and in the classroom. The District Teams are divided into eight geographic locations and further delineated by Division I, II & III. This is the second time a Husson football player has been honored and the fifth in the school's history. To view the complete Teams, click here.

Rivera anchored Husson's offensive line as the Eagles led the ECFC with 2732 rushing yards (273.2 per game) and scored a league-high 39 touchdowns on the ground. Husson also topped 1,500 passing yards (1,740) for the third straight season and led the conference with 41.3 points per game and 4,472 yards of total offense (447.2).

Off the field, Rivera is a Business Management major who was named to the 2015 and 2016 All-ECFC Academic Team.

Husson looks to win their first NCAA Division III Tournament game when the team travels to #20 Springfield for a 12 p.m. game on Saturday, November 18th.
