MARSHFIELD, Mass. - Husson senior tailback John Smith has been named the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) Offensive Player of the Week for the tenth time in his career, the conference office announced Monday morning.
Smith rushed for 287 yards - the second most rushing yards in a single-game - with five touchdowns, as Husson captured back-to-back ECFC titles with a 42-14 senior day victory over Mount Ida. Smith scored on runs of two, three, three, ten and 70 yards, tying him for the most rushing touchdowns in a single-game in program history, while also becoming the first Eagle in program history to score 150 points in a single-season. He also added one catch, giving him 290 all-purpose yards - the fourth most in a single-game – making him the first Eagle in program history to surpass the 2,000 yard all-purpose mark in a single-season.
