Thomas Branch enters his tenth year as a Sports Information Assistant and Husson Athletics' Historian in 2018-19.
In this capacity, Branch handles most of the publicity for Husson’s teams and is part of the team responsible for updating hussoneagles.com, writing, designing and editing publications such as media guides and game programs, creating video highlights for Husson teams, serving as official scorer for many of the Eagles’ home games, maintaining Husson’s social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube) and working to keep Husson athletics prominent in the local, regional and national media. He also maintains the Husson University Athletics’ historical records as the department’s historian, while serving on the Husson Sports Hall of Fame nomination committee.
Since his arrival in Bangor in the fall of 2008, Branch has been the moving force behind the creation of the department's record books, online and interactive Hall of Fames, historical timeline and the tradition section of hussoneagles.com. He has also overseen a pair of website redesigns (2011, 2015).
Branch earned an Associate in Applied Science in Computer Technology from Central Maine Community College (CMCC) in 2007, he later earned his Bachelor of Science in Communications with an emphasis in Web Media from New England School of Communications (NESCOM) in 2010. In 2014, NESCOM officially became part of the academic community of Husson University as it was integrated as the fifth school and college of the University.
While earning his associate’s degree from CMCC, Branch spent two years as a student worker in the Mustangs’ athletic department. His main role consisted in helping in game day operations for all CMCC Athletics events, and conference hosted tournament games, provided statistical information weekly and seasonally to the Yankee Conference and the USCAA, and served as the official scorer for the Mustang baseball team.
Prior to going to CMCC, Branch spent a year and a half at Thomas College in Waterville, Maine after graduating from high school, where he was a member of the baseball team who captured the Inaugural North Atlantic Conference Baseball Championship in 2004.
In addition to his college athletic communications industry experience, Branch also serves as the webmaster for Maine Swim Officials Association and the Hurricane Swim Club and is a former board member of Maine Swimming, Inc., the local swimming committee of USA Swimming, serving as it’s Webmaster, Membership/Registration Chair and National Times Chair from 2005-2014. The organization named Branch it’s Volunteer of the Year award receipt in 2009.
He is also a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A native of Turner, Maine, Branch attended Leavitt Area High School. He currently resides in Bangor, Maine.
