Husson University offers twenty-two varsity sports programs, and two spirit teams and is a member of the NCAA Division III and the North Atlantic Conference (NAC), Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC), Commonwealth Coast Football (CCC Football) (2019), Empire 8 Conference, North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC), Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). The Eagles compete among many top-ranked teams and long-time local rivals during the teams’ respective regular seasons and consistently advance into conference and NCAA tournament play.

Husson is dedicated to the NCAA DIII philosophy of making athletics an integral part of the educational experience and creating an opportunity for student-athletes to become well-rounded individuals. The College also places an emphasis on the primary tenets of the NAC: Excellence, Intergrity, Equilty, and Diversity.

The NAC includes institutions from Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont: Castleton University (Vt.), Colby-Sawyer College (N.H.), Green Mountain College (Vt.), Johnson State College (Vt.), Lyndon State College (Vt.), Maine Maritime Academy (Maine), New England College (N.H.), Thomas College (Maine) and University of Maine at Farmington (Maine) in addition to Husson University.

In all, fourteen Husson programs participate in the NAC: men’s and women’s cross country, field hockey, men's golf, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball in the fall; men’s and women’s basketball in the winter; and baseball, men’s and women’s lacrosse, men's and women's outdoor track & field and softball in the spring. Women's tennis is an associate member of the NEAC, Football is a member of the ECFC and will join the CCC Football in 2019, women's golf is an associate member of the Empire 8 Conference, and women's swimming & diving completes in the GNAC as an associate member.

Currently, the Husson's women's indoor track & field, men's indoor track & field, and men's swimming & diving teams do not have a conference affiliation.
