Jason Harvey has been the assistant athletic director for facilities and game management since 2012 and also been the Husson head baseball coach since 2008.
Harvey was a three-sport standout for the Eagles’ baseball as a shortstop (2003, 2005-06), men’s basketball as a guard (2003, 2005-07) and men’s golf (2006) programs and was one of the most talented and hardworking male student-athletes Husson University Athletics has seen.
In men’s basketball, Harvey is ranked 29th all-time in scoring (1,217), tied for sixth in free throw percentage (.830), seventh in 3-point field goals attempted (494), ninth in free throws made (308), ninth in 3-point field goals made (163), steals (179) and tenth in assists (355) and steals average (1.7) and recorded the sixth best single-season free throw percentage of .855 in 2005.
The two-year captain helped guide the Eagles to a Sunrise Conference Regular Season and Tournament titles in 2003 and two NAC Regular Season titles in 2006 and 2007 and a runner-up finish in 2007.
Harvey was a two-time Maine Men’s Basketball Coaches and Writers Assoaction (MMBCWA) All-State selection, All-NAC choice, and All-NAC Tournament honoree in 2006 and 2007 and was named to the MMBCWA All-State rookie team in 2003. He was award the Nelson Degrasse Team Award his senior season and the Allan Kenyon Team award his junior season.
In Baseball - The three-time All-Conference shortstop was one of the greatest all-round players to wear a Husson uniform, setting numerous school records as a three-year starter for the Husson baseball program, while posting lofty career numbers with a .378 (145-384) average, 109 runs, 33 doubles, 12 triples, 11 home runs, and 104 RBI over 107 contests.
Harvey ranks fourth all-time in extra-base hits (56), fifth in slugging percentage (.612) and on-base plus slugging percentage (1.068), tied for fifth in triples, tied for sixth in doubles, tied for 11th in home runs, 12th in total bases (235), 13th in batting average, tied for 13th in on-base percentage (.456), 15th in RBI, and 21st in hits.
As a freshman, despite only playing in 29 games, hit .346 (27-78), with 20 runs, 7 doubles, 2 homeruns, 34 RBI and 11 stolen bases en route to earning Sunrise Conference Rookie of the Year, and NAIA All-Northeast Region honors.
In 2005, as a junior, set the program’s single-game mark for most assists with nine vs. Castleton on May 12.
As a senior, set the single-season record for triples (9), total bases (131), assists (144) and extra-base hits (31), while posting his best season in a Husson uniform with an .444 batting average, with 79 hits, 53 runs (2nd most all-time), 16 doubles, 6 homeruns, 44 RBI, a .736 slugging Pct., a .492 on-base pct. and a 1.228 on-base plus slugging pct.
Harvey was a two-year captain under Winkin, guiding the Eagles to a 74-50 overall record with a Sunrise runner-up finish in 2003 and two runner-up finishes in the NAC in 2005 and 2006.
He spent the 2004 season at the University of Maine, starting every game at shortstop.
In Men’s Golf - Harvey helped the Eagles win their first of eight straight NAC Championships in his only season as a member of the golf team and served as co-head coach of the 2009 NAC Champions.
Harvey became the 67th member of men’s basketball program, the 20th member of the men’s golf program and the 51st member of the baseball program to be inducted into the Husson Sports Hall of Fame, when he was enshirined into the Hall of Fame on November 30, 2012.
Harvey earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Sports Management from Husson in 2007.
A native of Bucksport, Maine, Harvey attended Bucksport High School. He and his wife, Kristin, reside in Bangor, Maine with their two sons, Jacoby and Drew.
